Join the Big Green Blether

Anyone who knows us will understand that we're always on the lookout for ways to make our communities more sustainable. So we're delighted to be launching a new project, the Big Green Blether. We want to work with two local villages - Killearn and Balfron - to identify ways to respond to climate change by reducing carbon consumption. To do that, we're looking at four specific areas: tools libraries, food growing, skills sharing, and transport habits.

Join the Big Green Blether

We're hoping that the project will take place over two phases. The first is focusing on building the idea, talking to local communities, and identifying what we should try to develop - and we've already received some support from the Climate Challenge Development Fund. There's an online survey to help gather the views of the local communities. And look out for our postcards in the villages over the next couple of weeks.

The second phase will look at delivering activities relating to our four target areas in Killearn and Balfron. We're applying to the Climate Challenge Fund to support the work, as well as other sources of funding. If we can secure the resources we need, we'll be carrying out activities over the next few months and, if the project is successful, we'll be looking at ways to extend it to other communities in the area.

It's really important that local people tell us what they think, so please complete our survey by the deadline of 25 October 2017. It will only take a few minutes, and it will give us some vital evidence to put into the larger funding application.
