Kitchen Crafts: Create your own coathooks

Kitchen crafts is our new set of workshops that focuses on making what you use in the kitchen both beautiful and useful, following the sloyd traditional. Participants in each workshop will make different sets of items that perform a different job in the kitchen. As you make each item, you’ll learn different ways to use an axe, knife, and other traditional tools, building your skills as well as your kitchen equipment!

Create your own coathooks:

Hooks are useful for any number of things! On this workshop, we’ll select different wood to create coathooks to fit onto a board. Your pegs can be in carved into different designs and decorated in different ways. We’ll select the wood, drill the holes and fit the pegs, making our own tenons and wedges. As part of the workshop, you’ll learn different knife techniques.

Workshop programme You'll arrive on site by 10am, and be directed to our workshop. From there, one of our experienced trainers will lead you through the workshop. All wood and tools are provided. The day finishes by 4pm.  Please bring food and drink for the day with you.

Cancellation policy We do have to cancel events from time to time, usually for safety reasons in bad weather or when there is a weather warning. If we do have to cancel, we'll give as much notice as possible. We'll also refund the value of the booking, seek a suitable placement on a similar event or rearrange the date of the event. If you have to cancel, please tell us as far in advance as possible. If you let us know at least 7 days in advance, we'll refund your booking.
