Highlands cup making with Wooden Tom

With expert tuition from Wooden Tom, you will be guided to safely use hand tools such as a knife and axe to create your own  Highlands kuksa cup or whisky quaich to take home. During the course, you'll learn:

• How to use an axe to accurately cleave wood
• The correct use of the carving axe to rough out the shape of your item
• Safe use and cutting techniques with the carving knife and gouge

The trainer 

Wooden Tom has been wood carving since he was a lad in the North East of England and teaching in the Cairngorm mountains for 5 years. He loves nothing better than using what resources are common to that area in attempt to create locally unique items. Programme

You should arrive on site by 10am. From there, one of our experienced trainers will lead you through the workshop. All wood and tools are provided, as well as tea, coffee and biscuits.

Cancellation policy

We do have to cancel events from time to time, usually for safety reasons in bad weather or when there is a weather warning. If we do have to cancel, we'll give as much notice as possible. We'll also refund the value of the booking, seek a suitable placement on a similar event or rearrange the date of the event.

If you have to cancel, please tell us as far in advance as possible. If you let us know at least 7 days in advance, we'll refund your booking.
