About the Event
This workshop is suitable for everyone from beginners to experienced pole lathe turners. This workshop can be booked for single days (Thursday or Friday), or for both days (by choosing tickets for Thursday and Friday).
If you book one day, participants will begin to learn how to source and prepare wood for bowl turning and then the best practical techniques to turn bowls on a pole lathe. Once you have turned your first item, you will spend the rest of the course improving your technique with further bowl turning and learning about design, form and tool care.
If you book both days of the workshop, participants will get the opportunity to develop their skills and receive more guidance to elevate their turning techniques.
The course will be led by internationally recognised pole lathe turner Owen Thomas, a professional greenwood worker and teacher.
Pole lathe turning can be physically demanding but there will be plenty of breaks during the course. All tools and materials are provided but you are welcome to bring your own tools to use if you have them.
