The Big Green Blether
The Big Green Blether is a project focusing on positive ways Killearn and Balfron can prepare for a low carbon future. We're hoping to work with local communities to identify ways to respond to climate change in our villages, and are applying for funding through the Climate Challenge Fund.
As part of the application we surveyed local residents about the range of activities. Find a summary of the responses here. We've adapted the project based on your feedback and have updated our funding application to reflect your comments.

The project will now focus on two main areas:

Tool library
A lending library of tools for making, fixing and a range of crafts. The library will reduce the need for residents to individually purchase and store everyday tools. The catalogue of tools will be responsive to local needs. Membership will be open to all residents; fees will be donations based on ability to pay. The tool library will run repair workshops.

Skills sharing
Events are planned to allow residents to try a range of skills that reduce waste, repair and make things, and protect and explore the local landscape. Types of workshops will include: cooking with seasonal food, craft activities, clothes alterations, repair and bike maintenance, and road safety. Many residents will already have some of these skills and these workshops will help build our communities.
